CVE-2022-40304 3 Apple, Netapp, Xmlsoft 22 Ipados, Iphone Os, Macos and 19 more 2025-04-28 N/A 7.8 HIGH
An issue was discovered in libxml2 before 2.10.3. Certain invalid XML entity definitions can corrupt a hash table key, potentially leading to subsequent logic errors. In one case, a double-free can be provoked.
CVE-2017-9047 1 Xmlsoft 1 Libxml2 2025-04-20 5.0 MEDIUM 7.5 HIGH
A buffer overflow was discovered in libxml2 20904-GITv2.9.4-16-g0741801. The function xmlSnprintfElementContent in valid.c is supposed to recursively dump the element content definition into a char buffer 'buf' of size 'size'. The variable len is assigned strlen(buf). If the content->type is XML_ELEMENT_CONTENT_ELEMENT, then (i) the content->prefix is appended to buf (if it actually fits) whereupon (ii) content->name is written to the buffer. However, the check for whether the content->name actually fits also uses 'len' rather than the updated buffer length strlen(buf). This allows us to write about "size" many bytes beyond the allocated memory. This vulnerability causes programs that use libxml2, such as PHP, to crash.
CVE-2017-5969 1 Xmlsoft 1 Libxml2 2025-04-20 2.6 LOW 4.7 MEDIUM
libxml2 2.9.4, when used in recover mode, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference) via a crafted XML document. NOTE: The maintainer states "I would disagree of a CVE with the Recover parsing option which should only be used for manual recovery at least for XML parser.
CVE-2015-9019 1 Xmlsoft 1 Libxslt 2025-04-20 5.0 MEDIUM 5.3 MEDIUM

The xsltAddTextString function in transform.c in libxslt 1.1.29, as used in Blink in Google Chrome prior to 57.0.2987.98 for Mac, Windows, and Linux and 57.0.2987.108 for Android, lacked a check for integer overflow during a size calculation, which allowed a remote attacker to perform an out of bounds memory write via a crafted HTML page.
CVE-2016-4483 3 Debian, Oracle, Xmlsoft 3 Debian Linux, Solaris, Libxml2 2025-04-20 5.0 MEDIUM 7.5 HIGH
The xmlBufAttrSerializeTxtContent function in xmlsave.c in libxml2 allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and application crash) via a non-UTF-8 attribute value, related to serialization. NOTE: this vulnerability may be a duplicate of CVE-2016-3627.
CVE-2017-16931 1 Xmlsoft 1 Libxml2 2025-04-20 7.5 HIGH 9.8 CRITICAL

The xmlNextChar function in libxml2 2.9.2 does not properly check the state, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (heap-based buffer over-read and application crash) or obtain sensitive information via crafted XML data.
CVE-2015-7942 5 Apple, Canonical, Debian and 2 more 9 Iphone Os, Mac Os X, Tvos and 6 more 2025-04-12 6.8 MEDIUM N/A
The xmlParseConditionalSections function in parser.c in libxml2 does not properly skip intermediary entities when it stops parsing invalid input, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and crash) via crafted XML data, a different vulnerability than CVE-2015-7941.
CVE-2016-1839 6 Apple, Canonical, Debian and 3 more 14 Iphone Os, Mac Os X, Tvos and 11 more 2025-04-12 4.3 MEDIUM 5.5 MEDIUM
The xmlDictAddString function in libxml2 before 2.9.4, as used in Apple iOS before 9.3.2, OS X before 10.11.5, tvOS before 9.2.1, and watchOS before 2.2.1, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (heap-based buffer over-read) via a crafted XML document.
CVE-2015-8806 3 Canonical, Debian, Xmlsoft 3 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Libxml2 2025-04-12 5.0 MEDIUM 7.5 HIGH
dict.c in libxml2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (heap-based buffer over-read and application crash) via an unexpected character immediately after the "<!DOCTYPE html" substring in a crafted HTML document.

The xmlParseMisc function in parser.c in libxml2 before 2.9.3 allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds heap read) via unspecified vectors related to incorrect entities boundaries and start tags.
CVE-2016-3705 5 Canonical, Debian, Hp and 2 more 6 Ubuntu Linux, Debian Linux, Icewall Federation Agent and 3 more 2025-04-12 5.0 MEDIUM 7.5 HIGH
The (1) xmlParserEntityCheck and (2) xmlParseAttValueComplex functions in parser.c in libxml2 2.9.3 do not properly keep track of the recursion depth, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (stack consumption and application crash) via a crafted XML document containing a large number of nested entity references.
CVE-2016-4608 4 Apple, Fedoraproject, Microsoft and 1 more 9 Icloud, Iphone Os, Itunes and 6 more 2025-04-12 7.5 HIGH 9.8 CRITICAL
